Heliskiing & Heliboarding - Methven Mt Hutt Guide NZ

Heli Skiing & Heli Boarding Methven New Zealand

Heli-ski and heli-snowboarding adventures can be experienced in the “Arrowsmiths” near Methven. This terrain has been Methven Heliski’s home for the last 30 years and spans three mountain ranges in the South Island of New Zealand.

Heliski tours operate during the months of July, August, and September each year and Methven Heliski provide a range of packages including multi-day heliski trips, and private charter heliskiing.

Their standard heliski package features an spectacular drive into Canterbury’s high-country to Glenfalloch Station (helicopter pad), 5 incredible runs in New Zealand’s Southern Alps, averaging 750-1,000 vertical metre drops.

The terrain is so extensive that they are often heliskiing in the sun when Mt Hutt ski area is draped in cloud.

The Arrowsmiths

The Arrowsmith, Ragged, and Palmer Ranges are at the headwaters of the Rakaia and Rangitata Rivers, hidden from view on the Canterbury Plains. These mountains deliver consistent snow conditions and quality – we genuinely believe that the “Arrowsmiths” offer NZ’s best range of heliski terrain. Outside of the Mt Cook area, there is nowhere else in NZ where you can find the glaciated high-alpine heliskiing terrain that Methven Heliski offers.

All guests and guides wear an avalanche transceiver. Guides also carry a radio and a rescue pack. Extra equipment is carried in our helicopters in case of emergency.
