A lot of hard work paid off for the newly formed AshHutt Girls Combined 1st XV rugby team this year.
The undefeated team were victorious in the final match final against Timaru Girls High School last Wednesday with an end score of 62 – 40.
Although it looks like an easy win by looking at the score, the girls and coaches said it was hard work keeping the Timaru side out which made for a great spectator game with a lot of good rugby action, as they ran in 10 tries to 6, in an entertaining encounter.
This final game saw two close teams come together for a well deserved win. The Timaru Girls team was never going to be an easy game to play, as coming up against them twice in the season proved tough with close wins.
This is the first time Ashburton College has teamed up with Mount Hutt College for the Aoraki competition, and with one coach from each team, this was definitely a great example for next year’s planning.
The scorers for Mt Hutt- Ashburton College were Erana Te Moananui 4, Jamee Te Moananui 3, Piper Jones 2, Kate Donald try, Donald 6 con.
