Local boutique butchery, Drycreekmeats, has been informed that they are medalists in the NZ Devro Great Sausage Competition.
Mikyla, co-owner of Drycreekmeats said, “The sausage competition was open for anyone in the butchery industry. It is a chance to have our smallgoods sampled and judged by chefs, food writers and ex-butcher’s. We were excited to hear that we had been awarded a medal or medals, although we do not know yet, which medal, which sausage or which category.”
There is also the Supreme Award for the best overall sausage to compete for and that is happening at the moment through a Mystery Shopping process where entries are purchased via their website.
There were around 500 sausage entries all up and Drycreekmeats entered three categories with a number of their sausage varieties including: Wild Venison & Chipotle; Wild Venison, Chilli & Chocolate and Free Farmed Pork & Fennel.
The Drycreekmeats team will be attending the Awards Dinner in Auckland on the 13th October and only then will the announcements be made.
We look forward to hearing all about it!
