Methven’s beauty salon on McMillan Street, Skin Therapy, has recently changed hands, Vanessa Kelk, after eleven years at the helm, has handed over to Millie Kershaw.
Millie moved here three years ago with now husband Josh, co-owner of Mt Hutt Helicopters based in Alford Forest but spent much of her time in Omarama working as a hostess at New Zealand Mountain Hunting lodge, “I took care of the wives whilst the men went off hunting, organising their days, taking them sightseeing and ensuring they were well looked after. There were some great opportunities at the hunting lodge and I even got to attend the hunting convention in Las Vegas a couple of times.”
The move to the salon couldn’t have happened at a better time for Millie as work at the hunting lodge took up six months of the year. She said, “Josh and I got married last April and it was time to settle down.”
Millie has seven years’ experience in the industry, having graduated from The National School of Aesthetics in Christchurch.
“I worked part time with Vanessa at the Salon when I was in Methven, she introduced me to the clients and has been very supportive during the transition. We still get to catch up as she comes in one day a week, which is great. I really like it here, the community has been very friendly and welcoming.”
Skin Therapy offers all of your beauty needs, waxing, tinting, manicure, pedicure, facials and tanning. Millie uses the Environ Skincare range as she believes it to be the best products she has worked with in the industry yet.
Millie would like to thank the community for all their support during the handover process and she looks forward to seeing you soon. Appointments need to be made in advance so give Millie a call on 027 696 6466 and she will endeavour to find a time suitable for you.
