Methven Church Services

Mt Hutt Elim Church are doing a collection again this year of groceries to be able to give to people who need it at Christmas. Last year they were able to help 12 families and we would love to be able to help the people in our community again. If you would like to nominate a family, solo mum or dad, elderly or a family who have had a tough year, then please message me on Facebook or text Lydia on 022 629 0215. You can also contact Lydia if you would like to give some groceries to help people in our community. Final day of drop of will be 18th December.

Council’s Annual Plan Consultation Meeting

Ashburton District Council is currently working on its 2016/17 Annual Plan, which will be adopted in draft form and released for consultation in mid-April.

Community meetings have been arranged for Council to consult with residents throughout the district about the draft Annual Plan. This is also an opportunity for members of the public to come and discuss with elected members their thoughts or ideas about what is happening in their communities.

Senior Chef - term 2 starting soon

This FREE 8-week cooking course is for adults over 65 (or nearing 65 with age-related diseases) who are living alone or with one other person.

If you know someone who needs help with skill, motivation or confidence to cook for one or two people please refer them to us via our website:  Just click on the enrol tab at the top, go to ‘Canterbury’ and fill out the quick form.

Term 2 courses start in the first week of May in Kaikoura, Kaiapoi, Avonhead, St Albans, Linwood, Cashmere, Rolleston and Ashburton.


Water Restrictions Lifted

Ashburton District Council advises residents connected to the Council water scheme, that in accordance with the Council’s Water Restriction Management policy, water restrictions on the Methven water scheme are lifted effective 02 April 2016.
