The Dubliner and Methven Lions Club today officially launched The Dubliner Mountain Thunder 2016 Motorcycle Street Race, which is scheduled for Saturday 26th March.
Speaking at the launch, Dubliner proprietors Karen and Gary Manning said, “We are delighted to support the race and we’re looking forward to giving a very warm welcome to the riders, support crews and supporters at the Dubliner race HQ”.
The Dubliner will also be sponsoring a number of riders participating at the 2016 event including Jayden Scott in the bears class and Donald Steward in the Formula Methven class. Gary Manning has a keen interest in motorsport himself, having raced Enduro Bikes for the past 20 years.
Graham Campion, President of Methven Lions said, “Methven Lions couldn’t stage an event like this without the support of businesses such as The Dubliner. We’re delighted to welcome them and our other sponsors on board”.
The Dubliner Mountain Thunder race is an annual motorcycle street race held in the Methven town center every Easter Saturday. Spectators can expect to see riders from across New Zealand travel at speeds of up to 200kmph around the tight 1km Spring Lynne Motorcycles circuit, completing laps in between 32 – 34 seconds.
The event is hosted by the Methven Lions Club who join with Classic Action Motorcycle Sport (CAMS) from Christchurch to stage the event and all profits go back into the local community.
