The Jen Dearborn & Susie Millichamp Colourists Exhibition kicked off with an opening night last Friday, with over 80 people enjoying latest works from the talented pair.
This is the fifth year well established and accomplished artists Jen and Susie have joined for an exhibition, the ladies are well known in the Methven area and further, for their colourful landscapes and expressive artwork.
Both living rurally, the artists draw from their surroundings and regularly meet with other artists for inspiration and encouragement. Susie has recently studied and painted overseas, some of these pieces you can see at the exhibition.
The local artists’ work fits in well together and there is a great sense of colour and texture in all of the pieces.
A broad range of different styles and mediums are used at this exhibition, from watercolour and oils, to etchings and acrylics. The theme of colour is fitting, and the use of this theme covers all the mediums, there are a lot of very expressive pieces mixed in with more traditional landscapes, something for every taste.
Very apparent at this show, is a vibrant and energetic feel, which reflects these creative ladies so well.
The Colourists exhibition runs until September 29th and if you are up for a feast of vibrance, texture and energy, I suggest you get into the Heritage Centre Art gallery to see this wonderful show.
Those who are keen art investors, there are still some pieces that don’t have red dots, but I would get in fast to secure your own piece of local art.
Entry to the gallery is free and it is open to the public from 9am to 5pm daily
