In 1986 Methven Heliskiing began: a joint venture with Alpine Guides (Mount Cook) Ltd, the company that pioneered NZ heliskiing in the Ben Ohau Range in 1976. Alpine Guides’ focus on safety, details, and personalised service has established Methven Heli’s status with recreational and professional skiers and riders around the globe.
All guests and guides wear an avalanche transceiver. Guides also carry a radio and a rescue pack. Extra equipment is carried in our helicopters in case of emergency.
All guests (regardless of experience) will receive a safety briefing from their guide – including how to use an avalanche transceiver – before boarding the first chopper ride.
Methven Heliski guides are trained in emergency first aid, mountain survival, and rescue.
